It's been a while, I know. I've been busy with Ilmarinen, which is finished - finally! And it is very, very pretty! Very soft too: it doesn't itch at all! I have been thinking of using Palette in dark brown and heathered green or teal for Venezia, and I might have to take that up soon, since I totally fell in love with the yarn and the colors (and the pattern, too).
So here is Ilmarinen, finally:

Ilmarinen
Pattern: my own (available at ullaneule.net probably today or tomorrow)
Yarn: KnitPicks Palette White, Calypso Heather and Rainforest Heather, approx. 18 oz.
Needles: 2,5 mm circular and DPN's.
And I finished something else, too: The Icarus Shawl for my Mom! And it is so pretty! My Mom picked the yarn and the pattern, and she really did pick a winning combination. The shawl is big, and I mean really big, but that's what Mom wanted. I ended up with a 97" x 48" shawl with 4 chart 1 repeats.
I never liked shawls made of fingering weight yarn, somehow they don't look right. But this one does - it is actually one of the few patterns that, in my opinion, look better in thicker yarn than very thin laceweight yarn. I really like this one, and I might have to knit one for me, too.
Also, I tried the KnitPicks Options needles for lace knitting, and honestly, they beat Addis. They're sharp, the joint is smooth, they're very light and the cable is the best I know. Knitting this was sheer joy and I would've finished this in a week had it not been for those crazy Fair Isle projects and what not.

Icarus Shawl
Pattern: IK something or other
Yarn: KnitPicks Palette Garnet Heather, 4 balls.
Needles: 4,5 mm Knitpicks Options.
Size: approx. 242 cm x 121 cm (95 " x 48 ")
Edit: Totally forgot: I'm on ravelry now! My ID is Tuulia (yes, it took me a while to figure that). :)

ReplyDeleteTosi upeita kummatkin! Ilmarisessa on ollut uskomaton työ. Vai löytyi Addeille voittaja. Uskaltautuisikohan kokeilemaan (Get Knitted myy KnitPicksin puikkoja), jos menee taas puikkovarasto uusiksi.
ReplyDeleteUpeita neuleita jälleen!

Olet sinä aika epeli neuleita suunnittelemaan ja tekemään.
ReplyDeleteAnnan täyden kympin ja käden puristuksen.
Neuletakit palmikkoineen saa minut palaamaan aina uudestaan näitä kuvia katsomaan.
Tuo Ilmarinen on kaunis.
ReplyDeleteMinulla oli lapsena neuletakki, jossa oli tuollainen väriyhdistelmä, ja olen siitä lähtien pitänyt noista väreistä. Ilmarinen on hieno, kuten muutkin neuleesi.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments :)
ReplyDeleteKiitos kaikille kommenteista!
laplero: harjoittelemalla ;)
maartsi: Suosittelen lämpimästi. Jos ei ole pakko, en neulo enää kuin Options-puikoilla. Itse kokeilin kerran, ja nyt puikkovarasto on kovaa vauhtia uudistumassa Optionseihin.
Ihana huivi! Saisikohan tuon ohjeen jostain, sillä olen useissa blogeissa ihaillut sitä?
ReplyDeleterosmarin: Ohje on ainakin Interweaven parhaiden ohjeiden kirjassa, joka on juuri tullut ulos, ja kesän 2006 Interweave Knits -lehdessä, jota saa ainakin Interweavelta tilaamalla suoraan.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful cardigan! And your own design, too. That's great :)
