Getting Ready for Christmas

We have decorated the tree.

And we have done some Christmas knitting, too.

I'm fairly certain the recipient is not reading my blog. And even if she is, I'm sure it's not a big deal. :D

The shawl above is reknit of the Red Dragon Shawl. I did it this time with fingering weight Peruvian wool, which I hand-dyed. It turned out lovely - I love the colors and the texture of the shawl. It's actually a large shawlette, it measures some 33,5" x 69 " or 85 cm x 175 cm, and weighs 3,5 oz or 100g. It was a really quick knit: I started this shawl on Sunday afternoon and was done with it yesterday evening.

The wool in the tree is a selection of braids I dyed. I have been busy at the pots since we had some snow this week and I haven't really left the house for a few days. I know how to drive in the snow, but with summer tires I don't want to take any chances.

And it's still snowing. I hope we get a white Christmas, it's so pretty outside right now. The snowing means I get to stay inside with some hot cocoa, and knit. Something for myself this time - I'm done with Christmas knitting!

Ihana shaali! Kelpais kyllä mullekin, ja tosiaan upeat väritkin. Asiaan mitenkään liittymätön ajatus: kun pidät kaakaosta, oletko koskaan kokeillut tehdä itse sekoituksia sitä varten? Tähän tyyliin:

LUKSUSKAAKAO

3/4 dl tummaa kaakaojauhetta
1 dl sokeria
2 dl tummaa (väh. 70 %) appelsiinisuklaata rouhittuna
2 tl vaniljasokeria
1 tl pikakahvijauhetta
1/2 tl kanelia, piparkakkumaustetta, kaardemummaa tai muuta maustetta

Sekoita kaikki ainekset keskenään. Suklaan saat kätevästi rouheeksi juustohöylällä tai raastinraudan karkealla sivulla. Suklaana voit käyttää muutakin tummaa suklaata. Annostele 2 rkl / 2 dl kuumaa maitoa.

Tuo resepti menee minulla ainakin kokeiluun heti nyt viikonloppuna. Jos tiedät muita hyviä, niin ainakin minulle saa niitä jakaa. Rakastan suklaata ja kuumia juomia. :)

virtuaalivalo: kiitti reseptistä! yleensä mun kaakaossa on vaan kaakaojauhetta ja vaahtokarkkeja ja piparminttukarkkeja, mut taidanpa kokeilla tuota reseptiäkin! Kiitos vielä! :)

Even though you know how to drive in the snow, no one else in this area seems to know. My office in downtown Seattle overlooks a large parking lot and I've seen people in 4x4s with snow chains on their wheels spin out all morning. It's amusing.

Best to be safe and stay inside. That hot chocolate is a good idea. Stay warm and happy knitting!

luneray: indeed! I am not worried about myself, but for the crazies out there. It was bad enough on Tuesday on I-5, I don't want to take any chances out there today. It seems a few inches of snow is the end of the world :D Happy knitting to you too!

Oho! Onpa todella kaunis väri! MInun lempiväri on ruskea/kaikki eri ruskean sävyt. Red Dragon mallikin on upea! Tuollaisen voisin joskus neuloa. Olet todella nopea neulojatari, että sait tuon valmiiksi 5 päivässä!!

Hyvää joulunodotusta!

Hei Tuulia,

ja hyvaa joulua sinne Seattleen! Taalla Espoossa odotellaan viela lunta, jospa se viela ehtisi jouluksi.

Hahahahaha! "Nine braids of roving..." I showed that pic to my husband and told him that's how I'm decorating the tree next year!

Love that shawl too! Beautiful!
