I got my Sockapalooza Socks! And I love them!
Sukat tuli Julialta, joka opiskelee New Yorkissa mutta asuu Bostonissa. Siksi mukana tuli kaksi tosi kivaa korttia Bostonista, ja ne pääsevät meidän jääkaapinoveen aitiopaikalle. Mukana oli myös vyyhti (keritty!) Lorna's Laces -lankaa nilkkasukkiin. Sen mie säästän, fiilistelen sen kanssa sitten oikeen nautinnolla!
The socks were knit by Julia, who studies in New York but lives in Boston. That's why she sent two adorable postcards from Boston, and they will get to be in the most honored place of display in the house: the fridge door. She also sent me a skein of Lorna's Laces yarn for anklets. This I will save, it feels and looks so nice I want to save it for a special moment!
Mutta ne sukat itse. Ne on täydelliset. Täydelliset! Toivoin aika pitkävartisia luonnonkuituisia sukkia, värillä tai kuvioilla ei ollut väliä. Ja ne on just semmoiset kuin toivoin, ja paljon, paljon enemmän. Lanka onKirsikkapuumäen Supersukka-lankaa (Cherry Tree Hill Supersock), 100 % merinoa, ja väri on Trooppinen Myrsky (Tropical Storm). Seassa on mustaa, vedenvihreän, sinisen ja lilan eri sävyjä ja väriasteita. Itse sukkien luulisin olevan joku tuttu malli (Embossed Leaves?), mutta kun en juuri noita valmiita ohjeita tunne niin en tiedä varmasti. Ja ne sopivat täydellisesti. Ja ovat aivan mielettömän pehmeät. Aivan täydelliset sukat. Kiitos, Julia, sukista ja langoista!
But the socks themselves. They are perfect. Perfect! I wished for socks with quite long cuffs. I also wanted them to be of natural fibers, but had no color preference. And these are everything I expected, and much, much more! The yarn is Cherry Tree Hill's Supersock yarn in Tropical Storm colorway. It's an amazing mix of black and shades of green and purple and blue. I suspect the sock pattern is one I should recognize right away, but since I don't really follow any patterns or books, I have no idea (could they be Embossed Leaves?) But they fit perfectly, and they're so soft! They are the perfect socks. Thank you so much, Julia, for the socks and the lovely yarn!

I'm glad you like them! I was starting to worry they'd gotten lost in the mail! I think the lace pattern is Embossed Leaves but I'm not sure; I saw it in a shawl pattern and I decided to try it. The pictures came out wonderfully. Have a great summer and happy knitting!

Looks like the embossed leaves pattern to me!! Beautiful beautiful socks Tuulia - isn't is just the most heavenly thing to be wearing socks that were knit especially for you by someone else?? When I wear my sockapaloooza socks I feel like I'm in paradise. :)

julia: Thank you again! I love them so much! I didn't get a chance to write you this morning (you know them busy housewife mornings... ;D) but I'm glad you checked my blog. So, yes, I got them! I was expecting them last week and was worried they got lost but they were waiting for me yesterday when I got home! What an amazing surprise :) I love the pattern, they are very pretty. Happy knitting to you, too!
laura: I think it is so special to have socks made just for you, especially when you know all the time and work it has taken to knit them. I do feel really special when I'm wearing them :)
Ihanat sukat ja tosi kaunista lankaa! Kyllä sun nyt kelpaa fiilistellä tuon Lornan langan kanssa:) Usein olen haaveillut Cherry Tree Hillin langasta, mutta en toistaiseksi ole tilannut...
